Stir Fry + Central Coast Chardonnay

Well, this was a quick weeknight meal, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. Sometimes you need a super quick meal, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have an excellent wine pairing with it. In fact, that’s all the more reason why you should have an excellent wine pairing! Best way to elevate a boring Tuesday night into a great one.

This was a quick stir fry made from frozen veggies and chicken meatballs. The obvious choice would be a white wine, to avoid weird conflicts with the tannins or spices in a red wine. I wanted something chilled, crisp, and refreshing, and this Foxen Chardonnay delivered. The wine had lovely floral notes of honeysuckle, plus generous and lively lemon/citrus flavors, which helped boost up the various greens with the acidity and zest. A smoother and creamy chardonnay could have worked too, but I think it would need tons of acidity to avoid feeling flat against the bitterness of the greens.
